"I will bring greater accountability to county government, and strive to regain the trust of the voters.”
--Pat O'Neill

As your County Commissioner, I will make it a priority to bring the following to Whitman County government.

  • Accountability -- inform voters about county issues.
  • Transparency -- schedule and advertise town hall meetings to improve communication between voters and county commissioners.
  • Cooperation – among all parties involved.  We need county commissioners who can work with others.  O’Neill will work with WSU and neighboring districts to build a coalition to bring in new jobs, utilize grants, and fight for rural development in Whitman County.

Bio of Pat O’Neill

Democrat Pat O'Neill lives in the town of Johnson with his wife of 38 years, Connie O'Neill. Together they own and operate a landscaping business that serves Whitman county.  Before that, Pat spent three years driving truck for the Colfax Grange Supply.

Pat O'Neill also dedicated 35 years to United Airlines as an aircraft mechanic where he learned some of life’s most valuable lessons.  "You have to do the job right the first time . . . because you will not have a second chance at 30,000 feet!" says Pat.

As an aircraft mechanic, you must work with integrity and be accountable.  When you make the critical decision, you need to effectively communicate it too other departments, such as flight operations, line maintenance and customer service.

O'Neill was raised in a small farming community in Wisconsin where he quickly learned what it meant to be a farmer.  Now he wants to help the local Whitman County farmers succeed.  "I understand how hard it is for farmers to go out and make a living . . . I want to be a strong advocate in the courthouse for farmers." (Whitman County Gazette).

Pat O'Neill and his wife have three grown children, and four grand children. Both of them are active square dancers, and members of Whitman County Democrats and the St. Gall Parrish. Some of Pat’s hobbies are scroll sawing, traveling and watching the Sunday football on afternoon.

Pat O'Neill wants to apply the lessons he has learn and the knowledge he has gained in the service of the Whitman County citizens.  Pat will work hard for all residence of Whitman County to promote a healthy and Vibrant community.

One more thing—Pat has learned that if you want people to treat you with respect, you first need to treat them with respect.
